In partnership with research scientists Steve Hebert, M.D., and Edward Brown, M.D., H. William Harris founded MariCal (originally AquaBio Products Sciences) in 1996. Dr. Harris' research on mammals led to new insights as to a more fundamental and expanded role for calcium sensing receptor proteins (CaSRs) other than sensing specific ions such as calcium. Further research uncovered the roles of CaSRs as salinity nutrient sensors not only in fish and other aquatic organisms but also terrestrial animals.
In his early career, Dr. Harris was a faculty member and staff physician at The Children's Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, USA and Harvard Medical School. His research experience includes intervals at the Laboratory for Kidney and Electrolyte Metabolism at the National Institutes of Heath in Bethesda, Maryland, USA; Mount Desert Island Marine Biological Lab, Salisbury Cove, Maine, USA; Maine Medical Center Research Institute Portland, Maine, USA and Renal Research Laboratories at The Children's Hospital, Boston, MA USA.
Dr. Harris is internationally recognized as an expert on epithelial cell biology and body water metabolism, and as such has served on many international committees, authored over 150 publications and is co-inventor on 18 issued patents. He has been a featured speaker at multiple international meetings focused on biotechnology, marine biology and aquaculture. He holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Harvard University and a M.D. magna cum laude from Harvard Medical School. Additionally, Dr. Harris serves on the MariCal Board of Directors.
Steven C. Hebert M.D. (deceased)
Dr. Hebert was Chairman of the Department of Cellular and Molecular Physiology, Yale University School of Medicine, and a member of the National Academy of Sciences. Previously, he successfully led research efforts as a Professor at both Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts, USA and Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, Nashville, Tennessee, USA.
Dr. Hebert was an internationally recognized expert in cellular ion transport and kidney physiology. He was the recipient of many prestigious awards including the Homer Smith Award for Basic Physiology Research of the American Society of Nephrology and the New York Heart Association and the Gottschalk Award for Kidney Physiology of the American Physiological Society. Dr. Hebert published over 250 peer reviewed journal articles, and was editor of several prestigious and internationally recognized scientific publications.
Dr. Hebert held a B.A. from Florida State University and an M.D. from the University of Florida and M.A. degrees from Harvard University (honorary) and Yale University (honorary).

Bruce I. Andrews
Bruce Andrews was most recently COO of BioValve Technologies, Inc. a specialty pharmaceutical and medical device company. Prior to BioValve from 2002 to 2004, Bruce was President of the Animal Agriculture Alliance, an industry group focusing on animal welfare interests. Bruce is the principal of 101 Investment Corp., a consulting firm working with several clients in animal health, animal feed, crop protection chemicals and pharmaceutical industries. From 1997 to 2001, Bruce Andrews served as President of Alpharma's Animal Health Division, during which time he led the company through a period of considerable growth, including several acquisitions. From 1995 to 1997, Bruce was a senior consultant for Brakke Consulting, Inc. specializing in the animal health, animal nutrition, crop protection chemical and specialty chemical industries.
Prior to joining Brakke, Bruce Andrews was President of the North American Animal Health and Nutrition Division of American Cyanamid where he had a twenty-year career serving in a number of positions with increasing responsibilities. As an industry leader Bruce served as Chairman of the Board and President of the International Federation for Animal Health from 1999 to 2001 and was member of the Board and the Executive Committee of the Animal Health Institute, serving as Vice Chairman from May 1993 to December 1994 and again from May 2000 to December 2001. Bruce also serves on several corporate boards.
Caryn M. Crump
An original investor in MariCal, Ms. Crump is a seasoned professional with 30 years of marketing and general management experience gained during her work with a range of Fortune 500 companies. She was recently the Vice President and General Manager of ConAgra's Marie Callender Division. Prior to joining ConAgra Ms. Crump held senior positions with Pennzoil Quaker State, Shell Oil, and Coca Cola. She serves on numerous boards, including the Metropolitan Community College Foundation of Omaha, NB, the Houston Children's Museum, and the Houston Museum of Natural Science. She received her BS from Indiana University and her MBA from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.
Donald G. Friedl - Director Emeritus
Mr. Friedl is the founder and former President and CEO of All Seasons Services Inc., a successful New England food and refreshment service company. He is currently a director of Investors Financial Services, Inc (NASDAQ), Custom Foods and Classic Foods.

Helge Hellebust
Mr. Hellebust is an Investment Manager at Ferd Venture. He is an engineering graduate of the Norwegian Technical University with further qualifications in accounting and finance from the Norwegian School of Management BI and the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration. Previous experience includes: Norsk Hydro ASA (project analyst, license coordinator, negotiations manager), founder of an aquaculture business and joint founder of Samlerhuset AS.
George W. Logan
Mr. Logan has been an investor in, and active supporter of the Company since 1997. He is currently serving as a director of several ventures - NSW LLC, Roanoke Electric Steel Corporation, AEW Inc., and Valley Financial Corporation - and as Principal of Pine Street Partners LLC. Since 1996 George has been a lecturer at University of Virginia's Darden Graduate School of Business. He also currently serves on the boards of the Woods Hole Marine Biological Laboratory (where he is Vice Chairman), Carilion Health Systems, George Washington's Fredericksburg Foundation, Carilion Medical Center and the Foundation for Management Education in Central America. George received his BA in History from the University of Virginia and his MBA from the Darden School.
Edward L. McMillan
Edward L. McMillan is an independent business consultant based in Greenville, Illinois with a primary focus on business alliance creation; merger, acquisition and divestiture transactions; and change management with a focus on food and agribusiness.
Mr. McMillan was President and Chief Executive Officer of Purina Mills Inc., the United States' largest manufacturer and distributor of animal nutrition products, from 1988 until 1996. He joined Purina Mills in 1969 as a field sales representative and held various positions in Marketing, Business Development and Diversified Business Management before being named President and CEO in 1988 and elected to the Board of Directors in 1993. A leading figure in the animal nutrition industry, Mr. McMillan served on the board of directors of the American Feed Industry Association and as Chairman of the Board in 1993-94. He serves on the board of directors of several food and agri-business related companies including Balchem Corporation (AMEX: BCP); NutraCea, Inc. (NTRZ.OB); Durvet, Inc.; Hintzsche Inc.; Newco Enterprises, Inc.; Certified Hereford Beef, LLC; and Glencoe Capital, Consumer Products Investment Group. Mr. McMillan also serves as Chair of the University of Illinois Research Park LLC Board of Managers.
Steven Morrell - Chairman
Mr. Morrell is General Manager and a Partner of Teknoivest AS. Prior to joining Teknoinvest, Mr. Morrell was the Managing Director for 2 years of a Teknoinvest portfolio company, Aquasmart International AS (after a merger now called AKVA group ASA). AKVA group is the leading technology and equipment provider to the global aquacultrure business. He has held numerous positions over the previous fourteen years including Managing Director for Merck & Co., Inc.'s subsidiary in Russia, Central Asia and the Caucuses; General Director of Veropham Co., Ltd (Russia); President of Hafslund Nycomed Pharma AG (Austria) and Management Consultant in McKinsey & Co., Inc. (Scandinavia). He also served in the U.S. Air Force as an officer and an F-15 fighter pilot (Japan). He currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Akva group ASA (Norway) and CiDRA Corporation (USA); Member of the Board of QuNano AB (Sweden) and Isolagen, Inc. (USA); and Observer to the Board of Verax Biomedical, Inc. (USA).
L. Joseph Wishcamper J.D.
Mr. Wishcamper is Manager and President of The Wishcamper Companies, Inc., and a number of affiliated real estate development and management companies based in Portland, Maine. A graduate of Yale University and Harvard Law School, he has been engaged in real estate development for the past thirty-five years. He owns interests in about 7,400 assisted housing units located in thirteen southeastern, midwestern and northeastern states, and a number of commercial buildings in Maine. He serves on the Board of Trustees of the University of Maine System, Board of Trustees of the Maine Medical Center, Board of Trustees of The Nature Conservancy (Maine Chapter), and is Board Chairman of the Maine Public Broadcasting Network, among serving several other state and local organizations. He is also past Director of CMP Group, Inc., and Central Maine Power Company.
