Oyvind-Fylling-Jensen, DVM, PhD, Joins MariCal Board of Directors

MARICAL CORPORATE ANNOUNCEMENT
Portland, Maine USA; August 17, 2006 --- Steven Morrell, MariCal's Board Chairman and Partner of Teknoinvest AS, confirmed the joining of Dr. Øyvind Fylling-Jensen to MariCal's Board of Directors at the Company's recent quarterly board meeting on Thursday, August 10, 2006.
Mr. Morrell expressed," having someone of Øyvind Fylling-Jensen's management calibre and global stature from the biotechnology and aquaculture industry is not only a strong addition to the MariCal board but also validation that MariCal's calcium receptor technology has broad industry application." MariCal's SuperSmolt® Program is the commercial salmon industry application of their calcium receptor technology designed for the seawater pre-adaptation of anadromous fish, or smoltification, while remaining in a freshwater environment - resulting in significant production efficiencies, improving profitability and reducing costs.
Dr. Fylling-Jensen is currently the CEO of the Norwegian Food Research Institute - Matforsk AS. He holds a degree in veterinary medicine from the University of Giessen in Germany and a PhD in veterinary pathology from the Norwegian Veterinary College. Dr. Fylling-Jensen is an experienced business person with a broad industrial background in biotechnology, diagnostics, pharmacology and aquaculture. He has had leading positions in companies like Dynal, AS MedLab and Alpharma-Fine Chemicals Division. Prior to joining Matforsk he was executive vice president of Fjord Seafood ASA, responsible for their fish farming activities.

The joining of Dr. Fylling-Jensen follows the recent announcement by MariCal's CEO and co-founder, Dr. H. William Harris, Ph.D., M.D. on 10 Aug of the Company's raising of over $3.1MM in investment commitment provided by US and Norwegian investors to fuel research & development and job growth in Southern Maine.
