EWOS Canada and MariCal Announce New Collaboration and Marketing Alliance
Surrey, British Columbia, Canada and Portland, Maine USA; September 20, 2005 -EWOS Canada Ltd. and MariCal Inc. announced today that they have formed a new collaboration and marketing alliance. EWOS Canada Ltd. is a leading manufacturer and distributor of fish feeds in North America and a subsidiary of CERMAQ AS, the Norway-based global salmon farming and feed producer. MariCal Inc., based in Portland, Maine, is an aquatic life science and technology company. Under terms of the alliance agreement, EWOS Canada and MariCal will mutually support and encourage the growth and market positioning of one another in the North American salmon aquaculture and enhancement markets. EWOS Canada will be the exclusive West Coast manufacturer and distributor for feeds that incorporate MariCal’s patented SuperSmolt® and SeaReady™ processes for increased production of salmon in both the commercial aquaculture industry and wild salmon enhancement programs.
The results of feed trials performed at EWOS’ research and development facilities combining EWOS boost, EWOS’ exclusive health promoting feed additive, and Marical’s SuperSmolt® and SeaReady™ additives demonstrated synergistic effects of the combined additives, improved smoltification and growth rate and reduced mortalities. For aquaculture and enhancement hatchery operations this means lower production costs and increased total production.
