MariCal’s CaSR technology can control fluid absorption and secretion in the mammalian G.I. tract.  Stimulation of G.I. tract CaSRs reduces G.I. water losses and improves nutrient uptake.   MariCal anticipates that CaSR compounds will reduce or replace “growth promoting” antibiotics. The industry benefit is a significant reduction in mortalities and productive losses associated with fluid loss and dehydration and resulting from pathogen induced malabsorption of the gut as with calf scours.
